The Flood

The Flood

As a new reader, I was delighted with "The Flood" (yes, I've started from the beginning). When I reached the middle--the schoolteacher writing the letter (no spoilers here!)--I had one of those "Whaaa-aaat???" moments, but thought all would be resolved in the end. It was not. Can anyone shed some light here? Both possibilities, to my mind, would require a bit of explanation, but there was nothing--just this scene that dangles in the middle of the book! Did I miss something critical?

Not sure, I've just finished reading the book tonight and remember the very scene vividly. If its any consolation, I'm as confused as you, in fact I can't make up my mind if I enjoyed the book or not , it was almost as if it had been written by a totally different author!
