Other good authors.

Other good authors.

Thought I'd like to hear what authors the other members have enjoyed recently.

To start it off -
If you liked Rebus try Stuart MacBride's books set in Aberdeen, you'll love his characters.
Recently I've also enjoyed Mark Billingham's Tom Thorne books, read them in the right order.

Hi
Only read one Stuart MacBride I think it was the first one something like Cold Granite? Enjoyed it. Also enjoy Michael Connelly and Martina Cole. Michael Connelly with Harry Bosch as central character like American Ian Rankin and Rebus only set in LA.

Val McDermid is now firmly on my list. Her Tony Hill books are excellent.

Hi Anne,

yes, I enjoy Michael Connelly as well, the first one I read was about the heart transplant patient searching for the donor. Harry Bosch appeared in that one and hooked me right away. What a thought provoking theme.

I can recommend the rest of the Stuart MacBride books, but be prepared, they get steadily more gruesome, his most recent is really bloody.

Hi Schrodinger56,

Val's books are very good, the TV programmes give a very different view on the Tony Hill characters. She wrote a book set in Fife between St Andrews and the Kirkcaldy areas called 'The Distant Echo', well worth reading, especially if you are familiar with the area.

Val McDermid's "A Place of Execution" has just been televised in 3 parts on TV here in the UK... Very well done!
Have always liked the "Wire in the Blood" TV series, and am now going to explore Val's books...

Has anyone tried Peter Robinson? I want to try his DCI Alan Banks books...

I am a big fan of Peter Robinson. I have read all of the Alan Banks series and definitely recommend it.
