13th November 2019
Join Ian Rankin for a special event at the National Library of Scotland where he will be discussing the re-issue of Westwind, first published in 1990. In this unique event Ian will take us on a personal journey through his career and will discuss how Westwind is just as pertinent now as it was when it was first published.
Despite being written almost 30 years ago, Westwind, an espionage thriller about spies, satellites, and a global conspiracy of sinister surveillance, is strikingly relevant in today’s political climate. In the face of a tide of isolationism in the United States, Britain is torn between loyalties to the English-speaking US and its identity as a European nation, and anxieties about new technology which could be used for information, communication, and state surveillance are rife.
Tickets are £20.00 and includes a copy of Westwind and an optional free glass of wine.
Ian will be signing copies after the event
